Apple Fitness+ Gets Postpartum Exercises – Here’s How To Find Them

Apple Fitness+ has added a postpartum fitness program to the service, almost exactly one year after introducing pregnancy workouts. While Apple is largely known as a hardware company, it also offers a number a premium subscription services, including Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple Fitness+. Although some of these services, such as Apple Music, are also available on Android, others, like Arcade and Fitness, remain conspicuous by their absence on non-Apple platforms.

Apple Fitness+ is a subscription-based workout streaming service announced in 2020. The service provides video workout guides and routines from fitness professionals, helping users stay in shape. It is part of the Apple Fitness app, which is available on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Apple charges $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year for the Fitness+ subscription, but it is also available as part of the Apple One premium tier.

Apple has added a range of postpartum workouts in Apple Fitness+ as part of the company’s efforts to offer more comprehensive health and wellness routines for new moms. The series is titled ‘Get Back to Fitness After Having a Baby,’ and contains seven workouts in the Core, Strength, and Mindful Cooldown categories. To access the new workouts, open the Apple Fitness app and select the ‘Fitness+‘ tab at the bottom. Then scroll down to the ‘Programs‘ section, swipe left, and finally tap on ‘Get Back to Fitness After Having a Baby.’ The program currently offers seven episodes, including tips on self-care for new mothers.

According to CNET, some of the new workouts target the pelvic floor to re-strengthen critical pelvic muscles that can become relaxed during childbirth. All the new workouts are ten minutes long, and are meant for all new moms, irrespective of whether they had a C-section or natural delivery. The programs will, however, vary based on how active the women were during their pregnancy, and how intense they want their workouts to be. It is worth noting that while the recommended exercises in the app should be safe in most cases, users should still check with their doctors before joining any strenuous training program after delivery.

Before the latest feature drop, Fitness+ received another big update back in January, when Apple added ‘Time to Run‘ running workouts. It includes a series of episodes guided by Fitness+ trainers and focused on popular running routes in some of the most iconic locations around the world. Along with Time to Run, Apple also launched a new season of ‘Time to Walk‘ — its guided audio workouts focused on walking. As part of that update, the service also got a new ‘Collections‘ feature that offers curated workouts and meditations from the Fitness+ library. Apple Fitness+ also received SharePlay support last year, allowing users to engage in a group workout session with their friends and family members in real-time.
