A Look Into My Journey to Write My Way Again
Last year was not my best year. Plain and simple. I won’t dive into all the details that made it so hard for me (there’s already more than enough misery on the internet), but needless to say, the year wasn’t great. Especially in terms of writing.
Writing used to be a staple of my life. But last year, it took a back seat to nearly everything else. My focus stayed squarely on the next day, the next hour, or the next minute. What task needed to be done? What chore needed to be crossed off the list? What wave was coming next?
I didn’t recognize it at the moment, but I was drowning.
I now understand that I was living in survival mode, a state of being in which only the “essential” functions can be met. And writing, as deeply as I loved it, was not essential for survival.
But the waves of my life have calmed enough for me to see how lost I had become throughout the year. And now I‘m here to write this story (and hopefully many more) to find my way back.
So forgive me for navel-gazing, but I think a brief explanation of how I plan to incorporate my love of writing into my life again can help all of us who feel a little bit lost.
