Destiny 2 Savathûn Cosplay Looks Terrifyingly Real | Screen Rant

The Witch Queen, Savathûn, has been brought to life in a new Destiny 2 cosplay. The evil Hive Goddess has been making waves amongst Destiny fans since the release of her expansion The Witch Queen back in February, which is currently regarded as one of Destiny’s best expansions to date. Due to her much-anticipated arrival, Destiny 2’s servers reached max capacity upon the release of the Witch Queen expansion.

Though the expansion didn’t add much to Destiny‘s gameplay, one achievement of the Witch Queen expansion was the deep delve into the lore surrounding one of Destiny’s antagonistic alien factions, The Hive. Much of the story deals with the eponymous Witch Queen, Savathûn, and how she harnessed and infused the power of the Light – the encompassing meta force of Destiny’s universe – into her ‘undying’ warriors of Darkness, the Lucent Brood. The truths of these events left many Destiny players shocked by their revelations and what they potentially mean for Destiny’s future. Though the battle against Savathûn clearly had severe consequences for the future in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen‘s story, her actions, at the very least, helped propel her into stardom amongst the Destiny fanbase.

Professional cosplayer WillowCreativ dedicated a terrifying Destiny 2 cosplay via Twitter to Savathûn the Witch Queen herself. The most impressive standout of the piece is the dynamic mask which showcases all the best and horrific features of Savathûn, from her clattering skeletal grimace down to her snapping face plates. The mask is also equipped with menacing green light-up eyes and adorned by a beautiful crown of bone and dark carapace. The rest of the Witch Queen’s armored plates are lovingly sculpted to equally represent both the skeletal and chitinous horror that make up The Hive’s trademark design. The cosplay even comes equipped with her moth-patterned wings. With such a monstrous threat brought to life, Guardian cosplayers may want to arm themselves with these realistic-looking 3D printed models of Destiny’s weapons to be safe.

Back in May, Bungie had announced a special event for this year’s Bungie Day stream known as the Cosplay Cosmodrome – The Queen. Bungie selected nine professional cosplayers to participate in the event, tasking them to create a cosplay based on Destiny 2‘s Savathûn. The finished products would then be showcased worldwide on the day of the Stream. WillowCreativ was among these participants, and with this remarkable cosplay the result of her efforts, it’s easy to see why.

With the Witch Queen expansion being heralded as one of the best in Destiny’s lineup, it’s no wonder fans like WillowCreativ would pay homage to its fiendish antagonist. The Witch Queen’s story has unearthed much of the Hive’s motives but still left fans wanting more. If future Destiny 2 expansions in 2022 and beyond continue to provide similar results with future lore drops, many more passionate cosplays are sure to follow.
