James Gunn has revealed more information about the new DC Universe, clearing up confusion regarding returning characters in DC Studios’ reboot. Director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran were hired as co-CEOs of the new DC Studios in November 2022, and quickly set to work on revamping DC’s live-action superhero franchise. January 31, 2023, saw Gunn announce the new DC Universe, confirming the development of ten new projects across film, TV, and animation, that were initially expected to soft-reboot the DC Extended Universe. However, the prospect of some characters being rebooted while others’ stories carried on led to some confusion.
