V Rising: How to Find (& Defeat) Tristan The Vampire Hunter

Tristan the Vampire Hunter is a Level 46 V Blood enemy in V Rising, whose defeat unlocks Blood Hunger and the Recipe for Greater Blood Essence. Blood Hunger is a Vampire Power that allows players to instantly identify the Blood Type and Quality of nearby targets. This Power can help Vampires find the optimal prey to consume while hunting for a specific Blood Type. Like Blood Essence, Greater Blood Essence is an energy source distilled from Blood used to power one’s Castle Heart and transform humanoid prey into Servant thralls. This upgraded form of Blood Essence can be crafted at a Blood Press.

Vampire adventurers can find Tristan the Vampire Hunter along the roads of Farbane Woods. Similar to Jade the Vampire Hunt of Dunley Farmlands, Tristan never remains stationary in one area and constantly roves from one location to another. Therefore, the best way to locate this V Blood Boss is by using the tracking mechanic from the Blood Altar. Compared to other local Bosses within the region, Tristan is a highly formidable foe and can chop away a player’s HP within seconds. Accordingly, Vampires will need a sound strategy to survive the onslaught of this Boss’s attacks.

To defeat Tristan the Vampire Hunter in V Rising, players should have to have a general understanding of the V Blood enemy’s mechanics and abilities. This Boss has a wide range of attacks, including dashing lunges, fiery projectiles, and AoE-burning explosives. While there is no fast or easy way to take down this vampire Hunter, adventurers can employ specific techniques to cheese this foe.

Once players locate Tristan the Vampire Hunter, the first thing they should do is lure him away from the main roads in V Rising. Nearby humanoid enemies that patrol the highways will come to Tristan’s aid, resulting in a significantly tougher battle. Therefore Vampires should ensure they fight Tristan away from the beaten path after encountering him. Since the fight takes place out in the open world, V Rising fans can somewhat “cheese” the boss battle by provoking nearby monsters, such as Stone Golems, and having them attack Tristan. While the Vampire Hunter is distracted, fire projectiles at him with a crossbow. This strategy should diminish away at least 15 – 25% of his HP.

The next “cheese-like” tactic that players can employ is mounting a Horse in V Rising, entering into a galloping sprint, and using a Spear to execute ride-by attacks at Tristan. This offensive technique will give him very little time to react and can be done repeatedly until he’s been defeated. However, make sure only to do this strategy in clear, open areas since trees and rocks can cause players to get stuck in the environment’s geometry.
