Even though they’re not canonically related, there are certain movies that feel like they take place in the same world as another movie. These films are not sequels of one another and don’t necessarily share the same director or cinematographer (though they might), but they have a similar mise-en-scène. Different aspects of one movie, whether it’s the tone, the setting, or even the characters, share a likeness to another film, so much so that if a character from one of the movies were to show up in the other movie, they would not seem out of place.
