Batgirl Directors Hope Brendan Fraser Oscar Win Saves DC Movie

As the star continues to become a major award candidate, Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah hope a Brendan Fraser Oscar win could save their DC movie. Fraser was starring in the DC Universe film as Ted Carson, a disgruntled veteran who elects to take his anger out on Gotham City by transforming into the sociopathic pyromaniac better known as Firefly. Despite a smooth production and much anticipation among audiences, the Batgirl movie was shelved in mid-2022 as part of new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s efforts to clear up the $3 billion in debt inherited from the merger.
