A new update for Baldur’s Gate 3 not only improved the award-winning RPG but also taught Starfield, a competing RPG, another big lesson in how games should be maintained. The Game of the Year winner at TGA 2023, developed by Larian Studios, was released in early August 2023. The title had been in early access for years before its release, which allowed it to be developed alongside notes and feedback from the community. Baldur’s Gate 3 was then released to critical acclaim, so much so that it sparked controversy when it was established as a new standard for the genre.
