The Twilight Zone is one of the most iconic and spooky television series ever produced, but it still took the time to spread some holiday cheer with several Christmas and festive-themed episodes. The Twilight Zone is a forerunner to many similar anthology shows like Tales from the Crypt, Amazing Stories, and Black Mirror. The Twilight Zone even left its mark on the Christmas genre, but instead of always spreading holiday cheer, the show usually maintained its unique blend of existentialism, philosophy, and social commentary. The festive episodes of The Twilight Zone span the entire spectrum of what a Christmas episode can be. Some just happen to originally air around the holiday and, as such, become forever associated with winter and the festive season. Others explicitly reference and deal with the theme of Christmas and include strange spins on the idea of gift-giving, a drunken Santa Claus who wishes to spread cheer, and or even Christmas toys who do not realize their true purpose. Christmas episodes of The Twilight Zone include stories from the show’s original run as well as some others from the 1985 revival of the series.
