"From Imagination to Innovation: Discover the Secrets Behind My Journey to Hard Science Fiction Mastery"

Writing hard science fiction isn’t just an adventure into the unknown—it’s like jumping down a rabbit hole of complex theories and revolutionary ideas! Have you ever wondered what it really takes to blend deep scientific understanding with creative storytelling? In my quest to pen my own version of this genre, I found myself navigating through the intricate landscapes of quantum physics, evolutionary biology, genetics, and chemistry. Philip Ball, a brilliant science writer, recently urged artists to interpret our evolving scientific realities for the public. And guess what? I couldn’t resist taking that challenge to heart. Join me as I share my exploration into research, the obstacles I faced, and the remarkable scientists who inspired my journey. Buckle up! It’s going to be a thrilling ride through the frontiers of knowledge! LEARN MORE.

The science writer Philip Ball has recently called on artists and cultural creators to translate our new scientific realities into public forms so that people can hear, process and above all appreciate, what is in truth a shockingly brave new world.

I have taken his words to heart.

Research, research, research

Since I am a social scientist and not a formal scientist, I had to complete a great deal of research in order to unearth the ideas which I eventually brought to light in my books. Unlike the grandfather of science fiction Isaac Asimov, and many others like him, who are both male and hard-core scientists, I did not have the advantage of their theoretical background.

Below is a list of scientists who I read extensively and who influenced my work.
