Hollywood studios and insiders are reaching out to the federal government to help avert an actors’ strike. The WGA strike, ongoing since May 2, has had a massive effect on the entertainment industry, causing delays to both movie and TV production. But an industry already reeling from one walk-out could be about to face a double-whammy, as actors’ union SAG-AFTRA prepares to go on strike itself, if a new deal is not reached by the deadline on Thursday, July 13.
