How a Simple 2-Minute Habit Transformed My Cluttered Life in Just 30 Days

3) Embracing the wisdom of Mark Twain

Mark Twain once said, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” This quote resonated with me more deeply than ever during my 30-day tryst with the 2-minute rule.

I realized that the hardest part of any task, big or small, is often just getting started. The thought of tackling a massive task can be overwhelming. A project at work, organizing the garage, writing a report, these tasks can loom large and create a mental clutter that’s hard to shake off.

But by applying the 2-minute rule, I found I could trick my mind into getting started. If I told myself that I only had to work on the task for two minutes and then I could stop, it suddenly seemed manageable. It was just two minutes after all.
