Curiosity satisfied, I won’t be doing any more experiments of this kind. My risk was minuscule compared with ice-skiing off Annapurna, but I still feel a cold breeze when I think about how much worse it could have been.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The person who received the envelope was another scam victim. The scammers were going to instruct that person to forward the money along, but the victim obviously caught on. If someone asks you to receive money on their behalf, and send it elsewhere, you can get prosecuted for being a money mule.
