And sitting in that restaurant, I realized that there was maybe a way into the story that I needed to tell, not the way that my dad would have me tell it, but my own way, and that was through food. So that was the beginning of the journey. I didn’t come home and start writing, but I came home and I started thinking differently. And not long after, within the year, I went back to Poland, and I did the full ghettos, concentration camps, the full immersion in, you know, the terror of the Holocaust, which is very difficult. But I came home and I knew that I had found my way in.
