Thor’s MCU origin story was retconned during Loki season 2, episode 3, but one new theory might help to explain this new plot hole. Chris Hemsworth hasn’t made an appearance in the MCU as the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor, since 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, but his likeness did pop up during Loki and Mobius’ mission to the Chicago World’s Fair in Loki season 2, episode 3, “1893.” The Tom Hiddleston-led series has made several references to Thor and Asgardian history, yet Thor’s appearance as a statue alongside Odin and Balder the Brave in Loki season 2 inadvertently retconned his MCU backstory by contradicting one line from The Avengers.
