The Surprising Secret to Building Instant Trust When Your Reputation Is on the Line

When you’re consistent in the small things, people start to believe you’ll be consistent in the big things too.

Admit what you don’t know

This approach backfired. People can sense when you’re winging it. And when they sense it, they stop trusting you.

Now when someone asks me something I’m not sure about, I say so directly. “I don’t have enough experience with that to give you a solid answer, but I know who does.” Or, “That’s outside my area, but let me research it and get back to you.”
