It’s the holidays and time for a unique present

A poetry teacher suggested giving people a Poem for a birthday, anniversary, or other event. The holidays may have some people stumped for a unique gift for a loved one, but a gift you have strung together of your words may be much appreciated.

Writers have the talent to create an art piece worth hanging, or other piece of written work to give as a gift from the heart.

When my first granddaughter was born, I created a plaque, together with my visual artist-cousin. She superimposed a poem I had written about the baby on a painting she made that fits the subject. It was laminated, and wrapped in gift paper for the parents who have a poem on a painting about their daughter from both of us.

Now, it may not be the greatest poem in the world or the best painting, but each of us as artists has been published or represented or won contests or sold work, so we can regard ourselves as very good amateurs, at least. I know it is valued.
