Unlock the Secret Formula That Transforms You Into a Fully-Booked Ghostwriter in Just 12 Months

The exact 4-step path I followed, and would repeat today
“No, I don’t think I should announce to the world that I’m ghostwriting.”
That was me 1.5 years ago, when I still had a full-time job in Product Management while doing some client writing on the side. My partner pushed me to list it on LinkedIn, but I was afraid of what my employer would think.
Eventually, I conceded and re-wrote my tagline.
“When I’m not shaping products, I’m ghostwriting about them.”
That was the first step in a journey that has taken me from freelance writer to fully-booked ghostwriter in about a year. I’ve now worked with some of the most well-known people in the industry, and I serve 7–8 international clients at any given time, all from my small town in Portugal.
Lately, a few people reached out, asking for advice on how to do the same.
This is what I told them — in case you’re interested as well.
4 Steps to Build a Profitable Ghostwriting Business
If I were to start over, here are the 4 steps I’d take (I know they work because they describe exactly what I did).
1. Practice on yourself first
What is the definition of a writer? Someone who writes. Be that person.
During the pandemic, I consistently published 2–3 articles per week on Medium. I did it for ~2.5 years, even though some weeks the whole thing felt completely pointless. But I persevered (maybe because we were in lockdown and there wasn’t much else to do?).
That set the foundation for everything that came after:
- It allowed me to practice writing long-form content: the more you do it, the more you learn, and the easier it becomes. Later, when a client asks you to write a piece for them, you’re ready because you’ve trained your writing muscle long enough to be able to do it.
- It grew my reputation: by publishing consistently, I gathered 23k followers on Medium. For anyone who comes across my profile, that number serves as external validation, proof…
