Unlock the Secret to Effortless Cooperative Submission Updates That Will Transform Your Workflow!
A quick update after Medium’s latest changes.
Last week, Medium updated the publication submission process. You can read about the changes on The Medium Blog, but the short version is that publications now have more options when it comes to submissions. Here’s what it means for The Writing Cooperative:
- Submissions to The Writing Cooperative remain restricted to what Medium is now calling approved writers. These are writers who read our submission rules and apply to be writers through the submission form. In this sense, nothing has changed. Replying to this post or leaving a private note will not get you added as an approved writer.
- Medium, thankfully, has also provided the option to restrict submissions to only drafts. While this has always been the publication’s policy, it is now enforced at the submission level. Trying to submit a published story will result in an error.
- Medium has also added the edits requested status for submissions. When a story is close, but not quite ready for publication, I will leave a note and update its status accordingly, rather than rejecting the story and requesting resubmission.
These changes will hopefully make the process more transparent for writers. If you have any questions about these updates or the publication in general (excluding how to contribute stories), please let me know.
