“Unveiling Celestial Secrets: A Journey Through Ananya S. Guha’s Poetic Encounter with the Dog and the Moon”
In the quiet of the night, when the moon hangs heavy in the sky, a dog’s howl can pierce the stillness, echoing a sort of primal connection between creature and cosmos. What stirs within that canine heart? Is it a call to the moon itself, or perhaps a reflection of forgotten dreams? The verses herein weave a tapestry of sound and silence, of anger dissipating into sorrow, as the moon peeks cautiously at the world below. It’s an invitation to ponder our own childhoods, locked behind the doors we’ve shut, while nature’s soundtrack of howls and winds continues unabated. Join me as we journey through this mesmerizing exploration of existence, memory, and the haunting beauty of a dog’s lament. To delve deeper into this evocative piece, LEARN MORE.
Dog howling, head pointed
towards the stark moon,
what is there in the moon
that makes it bark,
raucous anger and then petering into a whine, abysmally low,
everything is quiet,
as the silence is punctuated by the howls
the moon climbs up fearing this creature
the dog curls to sleep,
dreams. I shut the door
of my childhood, and the howl continues late into
the night. The winds of March and April lash the window panes.
Everything merges suddenly into litany of silence.
