As the characters of the film face challenges, they show their intelligence in their response to those challenges. Furthermore, they show off their brains in certain moments which highlight their mental ability. Some characters are revealed to be less intelligent than others.

Brian Doyle-Murray plays Noah. He is the video game magnate who sponsors Wayne and Garth’s show, allowing them to broadcast to a wider audience. He is a successful businessman and shows his smarts in his manipulative plans.

He uses a game in his arcade that doesn’t allow the player to advance, leading them to continue shelling money out on the machine. However, he shows his buffoonery in his moments on Wayne and Garth’s show. He is naive and can’t tell that Wayne is humiliating him on the air with fast-talking insults and cue card gags.

Lara Flynn Boyle plays Stacy. She is Wayne’s ex-girlfriend and is presented most frequently fawning after him. She is characterized most explicitly by her lack of self-awareness. Stacy can’t seem to take a hint.

Viewers might forget that Ed O’Neil is a part of Wayne’s World. He plays Glen, manager of Stan Mikita’s Donuts, the eatery Wayne, Garth, and his friends hang out at. Glen’s running gag has to do with his dark thoughts and apparent flashbacks to haunted and murderous memories.

He can’t read the room and lacks self-awareness in the way he speaks to others. When a customer complains about being laid off, Glen assumes he has the same murderous rage as himself, until the customer points out his lack of understanding.

Kurt Fuller plays Russell Finley. He is a television producer. He shows his smarts in working his job. He shows attention to detail in filming, like when he points out to Garth and Wayne that they can’t mouth the countdown to each take.

His accolades in production underscore his mental ability. However, Russell reveals himself to be easily manipulated. He lacks the intelligence to see that Benjamin is using him until Garth opens his eyes.

Wayne’s World is one of Mike Myers’ highest-rated movies. He stars as Wayne and shows his intelligence several times throughout the film. Wayne outsmarts others as the film unfolds, like when he pokes fun at Noah on-air and Benjamin when he tries to talk business.

Wayne shows his brains in his quick learning of a few Cantonese phrases as a way to impress Cassandra. He shows his emotional intelligence when he realizes he is wrong for his jealousy causing a rift between him and Cassandra.

Tia Carrere plays Cassandra. She is Wayne’s love interest and the lead singer and bassist of Crucial Taunt. She shows her emotional intelligence in her early conversations with Wayne, giving him advice about how to talk to Stacy.

Cassandra speaks eloquently. She is observant. When Wayne tests out his dream guitar, she unpacks all the features of the instrument in detail. She is the leader of her band and stays active and attentive to its development.

Benjamin Kane in Wayne’s World is one of Rob Lowe’s highest-rated roles. He is the film’s antagonist and presents several moments of slimy behavior. However, he is very smart. He easily manipulates Wayne and Garth into his deal.

Benjamin proves to be educated, ordering Chinese food in Cantonese, appearing to be fluent. He uses his smarts to get others on his side, whether it be coworkers like Noah or romantic interests like Cassandra.

Dana Carvey plays Garth, one of the most indispensable characters in the film. Garth is shy but proves to be incredibly intelligent. He creates a device to shock a bully when he isn’t let through a crowd during Cassandra’s concert.

Garth shows his intellectual curiosity when he snoops through Benjamin’s things at his apartment. Perhaps Garth’s smartest moment comes when he lays out the elaborate plan to get Cassandra’s band seen by rock promoter “Mr. Big” in a broadcast during one of the final scenes of the film.
