Happy birthday, Cole Porter (June 9)

Cole Porter

I get a kick out of you, Cole Porter.

It’s de-lovely. . .to hear your songs sung.

Your lyrics remain as young and “easy to love” as ever.

So here’s “looking at you,” chum.

Furthermore, you know how to “do it”

(Some Argentines without means do it)

And you do something to me.

I’ve got you deep in the heart of me.

In the chill still of the night

This torment won’t be through

The east west north and the south of you.

The world has gone mad today,

And good’s bad today, but

Oysters down in oyster bay

Do it as do goldfish in the privacy of bowls, so

Let’s do it, let’s fall in love
