Star Wars is one of the highest-grossing franchises of all time, but how much profit each movie made is another matter entirely. Movies are very expensive to make, especially blockbuster films like Star Wars, so profit is determined by subtracting the budget from the total box office earnings. As a result, movies with a low budget can be profitable even when the box office returns are low, while other movies can make a lot at the box office but fail to make a profit because of the large budget. This doesn’t even include the cost of marketing and distribution, factors that can also hurt a movie’s total profit.
