REVIEW: Executrix by Brittany Perham Unveils Dark Secrets That Will Keep You Guessing Until the Last Page
Confused about how to feel about it. Are the seams of the book showing too much? Or is showing the seams the point? Perham does call attention to Executrix as a constructed thing. Discussing how she knew on her overnight flight that she would write her father’s “death story.” When initially reading the book, I felt the contradiction broke the reader/writer contract. Now, I wonder if that’s the point.

It’s creepy how similar my Dead Dad story is to Perham’s.
Our fathers were born in the same year and month, but mine died five years before Robert did.
