The original Blade Runner is, in many ways, the story of Rick Deckard discovering his humanity, but the life of the very first Blade Runner shows how someone with similar values could have a very different journey. The Blade Runner unit’s founder, Cal Moreaux, isn’t who readers would expect, which makes his own journey and failures all the more fascinating in contrast to Deckard’s.
