Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite Will Be Replaced By Itself On PS4

The free-to-play Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite is set to be terminated from the PlayStation 4 services and won’t be playable again until sometime in April. Fans of the franchise have seen a Dragon Ball game released almost every year for the past twenty years. Both Dragon Ball Xenoverse games sold millions of copies, and become the most successful games for the franchise. Xenoverse 2 was initially released in 2016, but its Lite free-to-play version was released in 2019. Thanks to a consistent amount of DLC, both versions of the game have a considerable amount of content to enjoy.

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, players can create their own character from various species known throughout the franchise. The plot quickly throws the player’s custom character into a journey that has them travel throughout the Dragon Ball series timeline to battle many of the franchise’s most climactic battles. Fans were delighted to learn new abilities for their characters and experience many of the game’s battles that saw events play out differently than what unfolded in the original story. New characters and storylines from the Dragon Ball Super have been added to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 with more than twelve additional DLC packs since the game’s release. But fans who downloaded the F2P Xenoverse 2 Lite PS4 version will soon be forced to take a break.

Fans hoping to play Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite on PlayStation 4 during the last week of March will be disappointed to hear that the game will temporarily be deleted. The DragonBallGames Twitter account announced Bandai Namco’s notice a week before the game’s deletion, currently slated for March 23rd. The warning does offer some good news, with the title returning to the PSN store “around the beginning of April 2022“. Players will be able to transfer their saved data onto the newer version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite when it becomes available to download again.

The newer version of Xenoverse 2 Lite is said to be the exact same game and not a new Dragon Ball game that fans are hoping for. It is currently unknown why the game’s publisher is choosing to delete the title for just a couple of weeks. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s full game will still be available to purchase and download while the free version is unavailable, so fans will still be able to enjoy the game and its roster of over 100 playable characters.

Long-time fans of Dragon Ball found a lot to love in Xenoverse 2. Players are able to fight alongside their favorite characters and learn almost every technique seen in the franchise. Games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has kept fans busy. However, many players return to Xenoverse 2’s massive amount of customization options years after its release. A direct follow-up to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has yet to be announced, but the title was such a success that it would be surprising if fans didn’t receive another Xenoverse game or something similar to it soon.
