As gamers around the world are enjoying the recently released Gran Turismo 7, Minecraft players can enjoy an alternative in the form of ice boat racing. The best-selling game’s physics and creative tools have allowed players to craft their own unique experiences, with one skilled fan even making a Mario Kart-esque course in Minecraft a few months ago.
Indeed, it seems like there is no limit to what players can piece together when they make use of Minecraft‘s robust and user-friendly resources. Minecraft creations shared online can range from colossal statues to sprawling fantasy landscapes, with many players finding ways to realize breathtaking builds of all shapes, sizes, and styles. Players who are particularly skilled and detail-oriented can make use of the game’s Redstone mechanics, which opens the door to a whole new world of engineering possibilities. Through this more advanced system, players have been able to create interconnecting minecart tracks, automobiles, Rube-Goldberg machines, and even fully functional replicas of other popular games like Wordle. Another very cool and unique Minecraft video has surfaced on the internet, courtesy of Reddit user SirKillianMC. SirKillianMC decided to capture some footage of them speeding down a player-created racetrack in a tricked-out version of one of the game’s boats. The racetrack itself looks to be made of re-skinned ice to make it look like tarmac while still providing some slippery physics for SirKillianMC to take advantage of.
Many commenters have noted that the track appears to be a replica of the Autodromo Internazionale di Monza in Italy, drawing comparisons to globe-spanning simulation racing series like Gran Turismo and Forza. Minecraft creations can emulate Studio Ghibli movies, science-fiction properties, and fantasy worlds, so it isn’t too far-fetched to compare one to a contemporary racing game. While the blocky Mojang title might not be a perfect replacement for something like Gran Turismo, SirKillianMC’s video makes speeding down this track look almost as fun.
As Minecraft continues to get updated and more players share their one-of-a-kind creations, it’s likely that even more fun minigames like this one will appear. This world-famous title has come a long way since its initial release over a decade ago, and just like Gran Turismo 7, there is clearly a lot going on under the hood; there could be some secrets of its physics and building systems that even its developers aren’t aware of.
