David Shepard is a writer living in the Pacific Northwest. At sixteen, he left California for a remote village on Alaska’s Bering Sea coast, an experience that continues to shape much of his creative nonfiction. His essay “Eat Around the Worms” marks his first publication. Shepard has also served in the United States Marine Corps and works in the electrical construction industry. He is currently revising a memoir and writing essays about Alaska, belonging, survival, and home.
