Unlocking Secrets: What Open Science Pioneers Wish They Knew Before Today’s Reality Hit

One of the fundamental truisms of post hunter/gatherer society is that things cost money. Money, which is an accepted unit of stored value, is distributed unequally. This too seems hard to debate. I would go further to state that the scientific publishing community writ large does not have the power or authority to alter the truth of the prior statements.

Why do I start there? Because at the beginning of the OA movement, some adherents spoke in terms of ethical belief systems. If you were not actively trying to move everything to the then-popular fully OA model, you were somehow morally culpable — regardless of the economic consequences.
