RR: You mentioned earlier that time was a character. The body feels like its own character too. How did you approach writing the body, especially when it held so much grief and uncertainty?
KT: For better or worse, my body has always felt separate from me. Like time, she’s often felt like an antagonist. At some point I realized that the more divided I was from my body, the harder it became to imagine building a life inside it. As the story got harder, one thing became clear: we needed a truce.
