Songwriters… When you have those days of songwriting doubt and wonder why you are chasing your dream….
I wasn’t exactly young that day I realized I wanted to be a full-time songwriter. I knew no professional songwriters. Also, I was in my mid thirties and had little money to support my dream. I was the poster child for songwriting doubt!
12 years later, after much persistence, I get to hear artists like Lady Antebellum, BabyFace, Darius Rucker or Keith Urban singing my songs for thousands of folks!
If you ever doubt dreams can come true, remember, if I can do it, anyone can.
Marty Dodson and I founded SongTown to share with you all the little pieces that go into the craft and art of writing songs and, yes, the steps we’ve taken along the path to becoming professional songwriters. Hopefully as we share with you our journey, it will make yours a little easier. I know this beautiful community makes me feel inspired daily. Watching our members grow their writing/co-writing skills and land their own big recordings with superstars like Tim McGraw has been amazing.
Thanks Chip Gall for sending me the video below of Darius Rucker and Keith Urban performing my song “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It.” I never knew this video existed. And it’s a definite memory I’ll cherish and recall on my days of songwriting doubt!
