The Shocking Truth About These So-Called Publishers Every Author Must Know Before Signing!
MUST READ! There are more than 3,000 publishing scammers on our spreadsheet now. We can’t possibly include them all below. BEFORE YOU SEND ANYBODY ANY MONEY:
1. Use THIS CHECKLIST. You’ll be able to quickly determine if they are questionable or not.
2. Contact Angela Hoy at WritersWeekly. Use our CONTACT FORM. BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE COMPANY’S WEBSITE ADDRESS. She will let you know if they are legit or not.
3. If you are tempted to send someone money, ALWAYS use a credit card so you’ll at least have a small chance of getting your money back when you realize you’ve been scammed. Do NOT use a debit card, a check/money order, ACH (bank transfer), Paypal, or ANY cash apps!!! We can NOT stress this strongly enough!!! If a company will only accepts checks, bank transfers, or money transfers through apps, THEY’RE A SCAM! All legitimate companies accept credit cards. If the person you’re talking to does not, IT’S A SCAM!!!
4. Do NOT trust 5-star reviews on TrustPilot! Anybody can post fake 5-star reviews and the scammers do it all the time! Only trust the one-star reviews!
5. URGENT! JUST BECAUSE A COMPANY ISN’T ON THIS PAGE DOES *NOT* MEAN THEY ARE NOT A SCAM! The criminal organizations are so vast (they put up new websites daily) that we simply don’t have enough time to list them all.
IMPORTANT NOTE! The page was getting too large (and loading slowly). For new scammers added after 3/30/25, we will be listing the name and website for companies that are committing 2 or more of the following fraudulent actions from THIS LIST. Please open that link in a separate browser window, and have it positioned side by side on your computer screen while browsing the companies below. Screenshots of everything we have on each “company” are available on request.
