Greg: It’s always an interesting challenge to figure out how much real stuff you should put in and when you should take creative license. I think I’ve come to a point where having as much true stuff as possible is generally the best approach. That might not always be the best way to go about it – there are lots of stories where a ton of creative license is the way to go. I think Marty Supreme, for example, is probably 90% fictional, and it totally works. But I’ve just found that when you’re speccing out these true stories and going to meetings about them, you’re bound to get asked, “This here on page 78, did this really happen?” And if the answer is no, you can feel the balloon of enthusiasm deflate a bit. Know what I mean?
