Greg: It sure helps. That personal connection can help you through the process or help you find story answers when you get lost. And you’ll probably end up with a better and more authentic script. I hate to resort to cliches, but what they say is true: the more personal your screenplay is, the more universal it’ll be. You’ve got to allow yourself to be vulnerable on the page because your paramount value as a writer is you, your insight, your point of view.
