Inside Greg Wayne’s Creative Mind: Secrets Behind His Most Captivating Stories Revealed
Scott: Okay, some craft questions for you. How do you come up with story ideas?
Greg: For original stories I generally try to think of just the worst things that have ever happened to me and see if I can turn them into a screenplay. Because we’re trying to write emotional stories, right? Stories that you as the writer can connect with. And what better way to connect with a story than to pull one straight from your own life. Even if you just use the seed of a personal experience, or just the emotional truth of something you’ve been through, you’ll probably be in better shape than just pulling something out of thin air. And what a great thing, to take some terrible event in your life and turn it into something that’s hopefully beautiful or meaningful.
