So, from that perspective, it’s a decent idea to stick close to the real deal. I do also have a desire to do honor to the story by being as truthful as I can. But, then again, emotional truth is probably more important than factual truth, and you’re always going to need to take some degree of license. Like if there are two characters that could be merged into one, you should probably do it. And there are always going to be places where you’re going to want to raise the stakes, or add conflict, or just make it more like a movie.
