Inside Greg Wayne’s Creative Mind: Secrets Behind His Most Captivating Stories Revealed
Scott: Okay. One last question. What’s one piece of advice you offer to aspiring screenwriters on how to learn the craft?
Greg: I don’t know if I have advice as much as just a suggestion of something to try. Try writing as fast as you can. Especially when you’re just starting out, you want to get through those early reps and those early growing pains as fast as possible.
I remember the first time I tried to write anything that was longer than a sketch, it was a spec episode of Modern Family. I think it took me like three years. Just toiling over scene descriptions, dialogue, micro-analyzing – it’s all such a waste of time. I’d throw that all out the window. Just write fast.
